The London History Festival 2011
The third London History Festival, which opened on Monday, is off to a flying start. Last night I went to the History Girls talk at Waterstones in Kensington. Excellent turn-out and really insightful discussion by the panellists, all successful history writers. Plenty of good audience Q & A afterwards too.
On Wednesday 23rd, it’s the evening that we’re sponsoring, The Stones of London (again, Waterstones). It features Leo Hollis and Nigel Jones. I’ve read both of their most recent books which I reviewed on this blog here and here. I’m probably being biased by saying this has to be one of the best items on the programme. The London History Festival (14 – 24 November) is sponsored by Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Next November is a long time away, so do come on down. Tickets are excellent value at £5 and usually include a glass of wine (I’m going by last night’s experience, I managed to blag two!). It’s best to check and pre-book since some talks are sold-out.
I really liked the fact that the borough of kensington and chelsea can get together and organize this great event. I hope this goes on for more years to come. I enjoyed it…..great work !
