Three Great Warriors

As a once youthful national serviceman in Ian Smith’s army, today I am going to pray your indulgence and go completely off-piste to remember three men who recently passed away within weeks of one another. My other justification is that two of them served Britain with distinction during the Malayan Emergency (1948-60), one of the few post-war counter-insurgency operations that met with any success.
In the order of their passing:
20/07/2010 Lieut-Gen. Peter Walls, head of Rhodesia Combined Operations – Telegraph Obituary
03/08/2010 Air Marshall Norman Walsh, head of Rhodesian Air Force and Zimbabwe Air Force – Telegraph Obituary
09/08/2010 Lieut-Col. Ron Reid-Daly, founder and Commanding Officer, Selous Scouts – Telegraph Obituary
