Put Out More Flags
At our monthly pub meet last month, at least two friends of LH didn’t find us in the labyrinthian Olde Cheshire Cheese. And those of us there were too engrossed yakking to look out for them. So. Here is a flag which we shall place on the table. From 18:30 tonight. And every first Wednesday of the month henceforth. All welcome.
UPDATE: We’ll be using a different pub from October. Announcement soon!
UPDATE 03/10/2011: This Wednesday 5 October from 6:30pm, we will be upstairs at the Princess Louise in Holborn. One of my favourite London pubs, it’s about a two minute walk from Holborn tube. If this proves popular, we may well adopt it, but the question of a more permanent arrangement remains open for now.
UPDATE 17/10/2011: Well, that didn’t pan out as well as we’d hoped. Good turn out, and we had a great time, but the place was packed. I had cased the joint on a Wednesday at a similar time a few weeks previous and it was virtually empty. What can you do, eh? Thanks to a suggestion by member Pete Berthoud, on 2 November we shall try the Windsor Castle in Francis Street near Victoria Station. The big difference this time is that we have the upstairs for our exclusive use. And it’s very comfy up there.
Had I not seen this five hours too late, I would have come to meet you!
I can’t do this month’s but if it is a regular thing, I may be able to arrange something for either next month or December. 🙂
Very much a regular thing, but having abandoned Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese (too noisy, too dark, difficult to navigate but in other circs a splendid historic pub), we’re keeping options open but testing Princess Louise this month.
